Problems With Motivation

Your child can develop motivational problems at any point in his/her education. Motivation problems can be very worrisome for parents.

What do parents observe?

You may notice a lack of commitment, interest, or motivation towards school work.  So your question becomes: What do I do if my child ….? 

This section will provide you with specific common motivation problems along with actions which you can take to correct or prevent problems in these areas.

You will also find suggestions for actions that you can take if these suggestions are not successful. 

Before you begin, do the following:

1. Observe your child. Be as specific as possible when naming the problem. 

2. Keep notes. Write down the problem. List everything that you try and the results of your effort.
